Every bride and groom hopes for a memorable day. But what about choosing a venue that will create a real talking point? Devoted to donkeys? Potty about penguins? Then these wedding venues for animal lovers might just fit the bill (bill, get it?!).

Every wedding at ZSL London Zoo has a direct contribution to global conservation of animals and their habitats. The variety of day and evening packages all have the roar factor. After the ceremony you and your guests can pimp your prosecco on Penguin Beach. Or even have canapés with the cats in Tiger Territory. All packages include an hour in the zoo for you and your guests.

Yorkshire Wildlife Park

Packages on offer at Yorkshire Wildlife Park near Doncaster include a civil ceremony overlooking the park followed by drinks in the tropical gardens with the sound of lions roaring in the distance. You can also add a mini experience to meet some of the park’s favourite residents including the giraffe, baboons, meerkats or reptiles.

If a rustic farm wedding is more your style, then try Cogges Farm in the Cotswolds. Hold your ceremony in the Barley Barn and your wedding breakfast in the Wheat Barn. Both locations mean you can enjoy a rustic farm experience. Resident animals on the farm, such as sheep, goats and hens, can also join you and your guests in a very relaxed way.

Choose an ‘alpackage

If you’re having an outdoor or festival themed wedding, then why not invite some very special furry guests? Charnwood Forest Alpacas offer a range of ‘alpackages’ (nice play on words!) that mean you and your guests can have two or more alpacas at your occasion. Depending on how much involvement you would like, you can even take your first walk together as bride and groom with his and her alpacas in tow. Just watch they don’t steal the limelight!

If you’re looking for a gentle, people-loving guest that’s used to ceremonial occasions then a wedding at the Donkey Sanctuary in Devon. The donkeys won’t mind a bit when you join them in their stables for their ceremony, which will be transformed for your wedding breakfast later on. This is also a charitable option as getting married here contributes to helping donkeys and mules around the world.
